“The Box We Put the World in to Keep a Corner from Shattering” release reading!

Last week the collaborative poetry chapbook “The Box We Put the World in to Keep a Corner from Shattering,” which I wrote with the awesome poets Dustin Pearson and Steve Castro, had its release reading at the University of Toledo, hosted by Timothy Geiger and his Aureole Press, who created this letterpress printed work of art. I couldn’t be there in body but I was there in spirit. I’m excited to share this chapbook when it becomes available for purchase!

I have a poem in the upcoming anthology Invisible Strings: 113 Poets Respond to the Songs of Taylor Swift!

I’m delighted to share the news that I have a poem coming out in the anthology Invisible Strings: 113 Poets Respond to the Songs of Taylor Swiftpublished by Ballantine Books, released December 3, and available for preorder today! This was such a fun project and I’m thrilled to have my work alongside so many poets I adore, such as Kim Addonizio, CA Conrad, Cornelius Eady, Jo Harjo, Jane Hirshfield, Yusef Komunyakaa, Naomi Shihab Nye, Diane Seuss…to name but a few!

My poems are being translated!

My friend, the poet Steve Castro, is translating some poems from my second book for a dual Spanish/English reading we’re going to be doing together next year at Syracuse Stage (more on that later!), and I find myself very touched, filled with a warm gratitude that several states away a wonderful poet is turning my little poems into another language, one which sadly I have no facility in. And such an awesome poet as Steve Castro! Everyone should get his poetry book Blue Whale Phenomena published in 2019 by Otis Books!

My poem Circuitry Suite in the Whitman on Walls Anthology!

Delighted to receive my contributor copy of the Whitman on Walls anthology, which includes my newly commissioned poem “Circuitry Suite,” responding to passages from Walt Whitman’s Song of Myself. It was a delight and an honor to perform this last August at the Everson Museum of Art alongside an awesome group of other poets and performers. Huge thanks to Karin Coonrod and everyone with Compagnia de’ Colombari for making this all happen.

You can view their short film “Infinite Variety,” which my poem was also responding to on their Vimeo page here: https://vimeo.com/507829941

My book is reviewed in the new Asheville Poetry Review!

Huge THANK YOU to David Ebenbach for this generous review of my book, If We Had a Lemon We’d Throw It and Call That the Sun, in the new Asheville Poetry Review, together with Matthew Lippman’s new book, Mesmerizingly Sadly Beautiful, a poet whose work I deeply adore, to put it lightly. How awesome to be reviewed together!
“These books, in their flights from the personal to the ceiling of the universe and back again, truck in classic themes of love and purpose, and yet they do it in a way that finds readers where they are in the peculiarity of the moment. Citro and Lippman are two voices we really need right now.”
