Two journal acceptances in one day!?

2 journal acceptances yesterday! If you write collaboratively with the likes of Steve Castro and Dustin Pearson, I suppose it shouldn’t come as a shock but really…Holy moly!! Heavy Feather Review has accepted “Placatory Congregation” (thank you Bill Lessard!) and The Boiler has accepted “Smoke Moving Out of the Way as It Rises” (thank you Diana Cao & Todd Dillard)!

“Yonder” published at The Cincinnati Review!

Yippee! “Yonder,” the collaborative poem that I wrote with Steve Castro and Dustin Pearson, just got published online at The Cincinnati Review, with accompanying audio of us 3 reading the poem (and some harmonica played by my darling Sarah)! Huge thanks to Kate Jayroe, Rebecca Lindenberg, Lisa Ampleman, and all at CR!

Video of a Zoom Reading by Sarah Ruhlen, Christopher Citro, and Steve Castro – March 5, 2023

Here’s a video of me, Christopher Citro, and Sarah Ruhlen and Steve Castro doing a living room Zoom reading from Sunday March 5, 2023. Sarah Ruhlen reads her short story “Shepherds Take Warning” first published in Waccamaw. I read poems from my second book, If We Had a Lemon We’d Throw It and Call That the Sun (Elixir Press, 2021), along with newer poems. And Steve Castro reads poems from his book Blue Whale Phenomena (Otis Books, 2019) along with newer poems. Hope you enjoy it!

Video of Steve Castro and me reading our poems in Spanish & English for Syracuse Stage’s Poetry + Play

Howdy! Here’s a video of me and Steve Castro reading our poems for last Sunday’s Poetry + Play event at Syracuse Stage. Steve reads his poems in Spanish and I read his English translations of them. Then I read my poems in English and Steve reads his original translations of them into Spanish. This event was part of an afternoon of poetry in English and Spanish before the final performance of Espejos: Clean, a play by Christine Quintana performed at Syracuse Stage in Syracuse, New York on March 5, 2023.

Steve Castro and I are doing a Zoom reading March 5 at 7pm!

Poet Steve Castro, author of Blue Whale Phenomena (Otis Books, 2019), and I are giving a Zoom poetry reading on Sunday March 5, 2023 at 7 pm ET. We haven’t seen each other in person for over a decade. He’s in town to read in person with me at Syracuse Stage earlier in the day, but since only folks around here will be able to attend that in-person reading, we thought we’d also read on Zoom later that day! Come join us!

Registration in advance is required. It’s free and simple! All you need is your name and an email address! Use the QR code above or visit the registrations link here:
